    Dr Rhiannon Mansell

    Clinical director/Veterinary Surgeon

    MA VetMB MA Cantab MRCVS

     

    Rhiannon graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2013 and started working in a mixed animal practice in South Wales before coming to work at Acorn. Rhiannon loves all aspects of internal medicine and has a particular interest in feline medicine, and has helped to develop the cat-friendly ethos at Acorn. She works closely with our wonderful cat charity partner Cats Protection and Wirral Animal Sanctuary.

    Dr Mel Pryer

    Veterinary Surgeon

    Mel qualified from Liverpool University in 1996 and has always worked with small animals. Mel has been an integral part of the team at Acorn since May 2008 and has developed an interest in both medicine cases and rabbits. At home, Mel has a 14-year-old chocolate lab called Bilbo and 3 rabbits.

    Dr Rebecca Milner

    Veterinary Surgeon

    Becky graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1997. She worked in mixed practice for several years before concentrating on small animal work only. Becky enjoys the challenge of veterinary practice and the satisfaction of doing the best that she can for her patients and their owners. Becky has Emmie the dog, Timmy the cat, Mo the chicken and Baz the bearded dragon at home. When Becky is off work she loves spending time with her family which involves watching a lot of football and rugby matches! She also enjoys reading and walking her dog.

    Elsbeth qualified from the University of Bristol in 2022, and after growing up on the Wirral is excited to join the team at Acorn. Elsbeth spends time at home with her two guinea pigs, Eric and Clive, and can’t wait to get her own cat! In her spare time, Elsbeth enjoys going swimming and going for walks in the local area. Elsbeth loves everything Neurology related and is keen to develop her skills in this area.

    Rachael Ivey

    Practice Co-ordinator/Head Nurse

    Rachael is our head nurse and practice co-ordinator at Acorn. She qualified as a registered Veterinary Nurse in 2015. At home, Rachael has three fur babies, Dobby the crazy Toller and two gorgeous blind rescue cats- Kreacher and Dora. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and baking. She also loves to travel as much as possible!

    Registered Veterinary Nurse

    Kim has worked at Acorn Vets since 2007 and qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2011. Kim has an interest in all things cats and advocates feline friendly nursing. In her time away from work, Kim enjoys spending time with her two children and two beautiful Bengal cats.

    Gemma is one of our longest standing members of staff, she began in 1995 and became a qualified Veterinary Nurse in 2000. Gemma has a keen interest in Rabbits – at home, Gemma has a bunny called Alice. Gemma has a keen interest in nurse consults and supports our chunkier pets in their weight clinics

    Student Veterinary Nurse

    Eilish joined the team in 2021 and has recently started her nurse training. Eilish enjoys exotics and has 3 leopard geckos called: Jigsaw, Puzzle and Scrabble. In her free time she enjoys training sessions with her dog storm.

    Chris joined Acorn in 2020 and is soon to begin his training. Chris loves anything to do with Surgery. He has a lovely dog- Molly and 2 rat companions! Chris enjoys music and films from all era’s and is known as the practice clown, always making us laugh. Chris is our positive vibe.

    Chelsea has been in veterinary for 4 years and has two babies: Chance, her loving tortie feline friend and Milly Moo her Best Bunny. In her spare time, Chelsea enjoys musical theatre- her favourite being Phantom of the Opera. She also loves anything Disney.

    Head Receptionist

    Ali graduated with a degree in Hotel Management & French from the University of Gloucestershire, but found her love of pets to be too great! Ali enjoys working with a great team at Acorn and meeting clients and their animals. Ali has recently completed her SQP qualification, allowing her to advise and dispense certain veterinary medicines. Ali has achieved her British Veterinary Receptionist Association Bronze Award and her Competent Vet Dispenser Award

    Silver Award

    Laura joined Acorn in 2010 as a receptionist and has accumulated over 20 years of working for a veterinary practice, 18 of which were spent nursing. At home, Laura has a very placid chocolate cockapoo called Chester, a very lively black cockapoo called Willows (good name!) and a young Cockerpoo called Bumble. She also has 2 guinea pigs called Nugget and Chips. Laura has achieved her British Veterinary Receptionist Association Bronze Award and her Competent Vet Dispenser Award
